Advances in technology have helped telecommuting jobs become more accessible to average every day Americans. With improved security, transactions can be done between home computers and those at work without fear of complications. According to an independent study, fourteen million people will be telecommuting by the end of 2009. This is double the amount of telecommuters from just ten years ago.
Companies that wouldn't have even considered hiring telecommuters ten years ago are now pushing forward into the telecommuting age. These companies are realizing the many benefits of telecommuting employees. Telecommuters are also enjoying the benefits of working from home. Though many telecommuters still have to check into the main work office on a regular basis, the freedom acquired from working at home makes any such visits tolerable.
Some companies are even supplying the necessary equipment needed for their employees to work at home. Companies that offer telecommuting opportunities actually save money on building rental and expenses since their employees don't need independent office space or are able to use flexible office space (office area shared with one or more other telecommuting employees) for those who still need to report to the main office occasionally. As technology continues to advance it will be exciting to see the changes occurring in the employment field.
